- Care in Spanish
Vaccines are one of the simplest ways to protect your health and your family's. At Clínica Hispana Nueva Salud we administer the flu vaccine and the tetanus toxoid safely and quickly: no appointment, no insurance required and in Spanish.
Which vaccines do we administer?
- Flu (influenza) vaccine: recommended every year, ideally between September and November, before flu season starts in Houston.
- Tetanus toxoid (tetanus booster): protects you from cuts, scrapes, wounds from rusty objects or bites. A booster is recommended every 10 years, or sooner if you have a dirty or deep wound and don't remember your last dose.
If you need another vaccine, ask us: we'll guide you on where to get it and which boosters you're due for based on your age.
Who should get the flu shot?
Practically everyone 6 months and older, and especially:
- Adults over 65
- People with diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure or chronic conditions
- Pregnant women
- Those who work with the public, in caregiving or in schools
- Those living with small children or older adults
The vaccine doesn't give you the flu: it contains inactivated virus. A sore arm or mild tiredness for a day or two is normal.
When do I need a tetanus booster?
- If more than 10 years have passed since your last dose
- If you cut yourself, got pricked by something rusty or were bitten by an animal and don't remember when you were vaccinated
- Before certain jobs (construction, landscaping, mechanics) or paperwork that requires it
If you come in with a wound, we also clean and treat it: we offer same-day wound care and stitches.
What is the visit like?
- Walk in without an appointment and check in at the front desk.
- The medical staff briefly reviews your history (allergies, pregnancy, previous vaccines).
- The vaccine is given in the arm; it takes less than 5 minutes.
- We give you a vaccination record for work, school or your files.
