Men's Health Exams: PSA & Testosterone

Men's health exams: prostate antigen (PSA), testosterone and general checkup, in Spanish.

  • Prostate antigen (PSA)
  • Testosterone level
  • General men's checkup
  • Results explained in Spanish

Men's health often gets put off: "nothing hurts," "I don't have time." At Clínica Hispana Nueva Salud we make it easy to get the tests that detect important changes in the prostate and your hormones early, with results explained in Spanish: no appointment, no insurance required and affordable pricing.

What does the men's checkup include?

  • Prostate-specific antigen (PSA): a blood test that helps monitor prostate health
  • Testosterone level: the hormone that affects energy, mood, muscle mass and sex drive
  • General checkup: blood pressure, weight, vital signs and symptom review
  • Evaluation of urinary symptoms (getting up at night to urinate, weak stream, dribbling) or low energy
  • Referral to a urologist or specialist when the result warrants it

If you want a full picture, we can combine it with blood tests for glucose, cholesterol and thyroid in the same draw.

At what age and how often?

  • PSA: generally from age 50, or from 40-45 if you have relatives (father, brother) with prostate cancer. Repeated every 1 to 2 years depending on the result.
  • Testosterone: at any age if you have symptoms of low testosterone (see below). It's measured in the morning, when it's highest.

Signs it's time to get checked

  • You get up several times a night to urinate
  • Weak or intermittent urine stream, or a feeling of not emptying
  • Constant tiredness, low energy or low mood
  • Less sex drive or difficulty keeping an erection
  • Loss of muscle mass or increased belly fat
  • Lower-back or pelvic pain with no clear cause

Many of these symptoms can be solved once the cause is found. Ignoring them doesn't make them go away.

How do I prepare?

  • For PSA: avoid sex, cycling and intense exercise for 48 hours before, since they can raise the result.
  • For testosterone: come in the morning, ideally before 10 AM.
  • If you're also testing glucose or cholesterol, fast for 8 to 12 hours.

What is the visit like?

  1. Walk in without an appointment, check in and tell us your symptoms or interest in the checkup.
  2. The blood sample is drawn at the clinic; it takes a few minutes.
  3. The medical staff checks your vital signs and evaluates your symptoms.
  4. When the lab returns the results, we explain them in Spanish and define next steps.
