Flu, COVID or common cold?

The symptoms look alike, but the treatment differs:

• Cold: congestion, sneezing, mild discomfort; usually passes in a few days.
• Flu: sudden high fever, body aches, intense tiredness. Antiviral medication works best in the first 48 hours.
• COVID-19: fever, cough, tiredness, sometimes loss of smell or taste. Worth confirming to protect others at home.

A rapid test clears up the doubt in minutes and lets us give the right treatment from day one.

When should I come in?

• Fever of 100.4 °F (38 °C) or higher lasting more than 2 days
• Cough that doesn't improve in a week or gets worse
• Severe sore throat, with white patches or trouble swallowing
• Chest pain when breathing or wheezing
• Flu symptoms if you have asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, are over 65 or pregnant

Go to the emergency room immediately if you have trouble breathing, blue lips or confusion.

Prevention

The annual flu vaccine reduces the risk of severe illness. Washing your hands, covering your cough and staying home when you have a fever protects your family and coworkers.

1. Walk in without an appointment and check in at the front desk.
2. The medical staff evaluates your symptoms and checks your throat, ears and lungs.
3. A rapid flu, COVID or strep test is done as needed; results are ready in minutes.
4. You leave with your diagnosis, prescription and treatment the same day.
