Thyroid Testing & Treatment
Diagnosis and treatment of thyroid conditions (hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism) with follow-up in Spanish.
- Thyroid function tests (TSH, T3, T4)
- Diagnosis of hypo- and hyperthyroidism
- Treatment and medication adjustment
- Follow-up in Spanish
The thyroid is a small gland in the neck that regulates your energy, weight, temperature and mood. When it works too much (hyperthyroidism) or too little (hypothyroidism), symptoms appear that affect your daily life and are often mistaken for stress or tiredness. At Clínica Hispana Nueva Salud we evaluate your thyroid with lab tests and give you the right treatment: no appointment, no insurance required and in Spanish.
What's included?
- Symptom evaluation and neck exam for enlargement or nodules
- Thyroid function tests: TSH and, if needed, free T3 and T4
- Diagnosis of hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism
- Starting and adjusting treatment (for example, levothyroxine for hypothyroidism)
- Regular follow-up with lab work to keep the dose right
- Thyroid ultrasound when a nodule or enlargement is found
- Endocrinologist referral for cases that require it
Symptoms of hypothyroidism (slow thyroid)
- Constant tiredness and excessive sleepiness
- Weight gain without changing your diet
- Feeling cold, dry skin, hair loss
- Constipation
- Sadness, low mood or slow thinking
- Heavy or irregular periods
Symptoms of hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid)
- Nervousness, anxiety or irritability
- Weight loss even though you eat the same or more
- Palpitations or a fast heartbeat
- Feeling hot and sweating
- Hand tremors
- Trouble sleeping
If you recognize several of these symptoms, a simple blood test gives the answer.
Who should get their thyroid checked?
- Women, especially after pregnancy or around menopause
- People with relatives who have thyroid problems
- Those with diabetes or another autoimmune disease
- If you have unexplained high cholesterol or persistent anemia
- If you're planning a pregnancy or are pregnant: the thyroid affects the baby's development
How do I prepare?
The TSH test doesn't require fasting. If you already take thyroid medication, take it after the blood draw, not before, and let us know. If you're also getting other blood tests (glucose, cholesterol), come fasting for 8 to 12 hours.
What is the visit like?
- Walk in without an appointment and check in at the front desk.
- The medical staff evaluates your symptoms and examines your neck.
- The blood sample is drawn at the clinic.
- When the lab returns the result, we explain it in Spanish and, if appropriate, you start or adjust your treatment.
- We schedule follow-up: generally every 6-8 weeks while adjusting the dose, and every 6-12 months once stable.
