Ultrasound (sonography) is a safe, painless tool that lets us see inside your body for an accurate diagnosis. At Clínica Hispana Nueva Salud we have modern equipment and staff who explain everything in Spanish: no appointment, no insurance required and affordable pricing.

What types of ultrasound do we perform?

• Abdominal ultrasound: liver, gallbladder (stones), kidneys, pancreas and spleen. Useful for abdominal pain, discomfort after meals or abnormal blood test results.
• Pelvic ultrasound: uterus and ovaries in women; helps evaluate pelvic pain, irregular bleeding or cysts. It complements our gynecology care.
• Pregnancy (obstetric) ultrasound: confirmation and follow-up of pregnancy, heartbeat and the baby's development. If you haven't confirmed yet, start with a pregnancy test.
• Thyroid and soft tissue: neck nodules, lumps or swelling under the skin.

When is an ultrasound recommended?

• Unexplained abdominal or side pain
• Suspected gallbladder or kidney stones
• Pelvic pain, very heavy or irregular periods
• Confirming or following up on a pregnancy
• A lump or swelling that appeared on the neck or under the skin
• Monitoring a known condition (for example, cysts or the thyroid)

No radiation, no pain

Unlike X-rays, ultrasound uses no radiation, so it's safe even during pregnancy and can be repeated as often as needed. The exam takes 15 to 30 minutes and you'll only feel the cool gel and light pressure from the probe.

How do I prepare?

• Abdominal: fast for 6 to 8 hours (to see the gallbladder clearly).
• Pelvic and early pregnancy: full bladder; drink 3 to 4 glasses of water an hour before and don't urinate.
• Thyroid and soft tissue: no preparation needed.

What is the visit like?

1. Walk in without an appointment, check in and tell us the reason for the exam.
2. The ultrasound is performed in a private room, with explanations in Spanish.
3. The medical staff reviews the images and explains the findings in plain words.
4. If needed, you leave with treatment, additional tests or a specialist referral.
