No. Ultrasound uses sound waves, not radiation, so it's safe even during pregnancy and can be repeated as needed.

What types of ultrasound do you perform?

Abdominal (liver, gallbladder, kidneys), pelvic, pregnancy, and thyroid or soft tissue. If you need another type, call us and we'll guide you.

Do I need to fast or prepare?

It depends on the exam: abdominal requires 6-8 hours of fasting; pelvic and early pregnancy, a full bladder; thyroid needs no preparation.

How long does the ultrasound take?

Between 15 and 30 minutes, depending on the type of exam. It's painless; you'll only feel the gel and light pressure.

Will you explain the result the same day?

The medical staff explains the findings in Spanish during the visit and, if needed, tells you the next steps or refers you to a specialist.

Do you do pregnancy ultrasounds without an appointment?

Yes. You can walk in to confirm or follow up on your pregnancy. For the first weeks, come with a full bladder.

Ultrasound (sonography) lets us look at organs and tissue inside you, with no pain and no needles, to get a clearer picture of what's going on. At Clínica Hispana Nueva Salud we have modern equipment and staff who explain everything in Spanish: no appointment, no insurance required and affordable pricing.

What types of ultrasound do we perform?

Abdominal ultrasound: liver, gallbladder (stones), kidneys, pancreas and spleen. Useful for abdominal pain, discomfort after meals or abnormal blood test results.
Pelvic ultrasound: uterus and ovaries in women; helps evaluate pelvic pain, irregular bleeding or cysts. It complements our gynecology care.
Pregnancy (obstetric) ultrasound: confirmation and follow-up of pregnancy, heartbeat and the baby's development. If you haven't confirmed yet, start with a pregnancy test.
Thyroid and soft tissue: neck nodules, lumps or swelling under the skin.

When is an ultrasound recommended?

Unexplained abdominal or side pain
Suspected gallbladder or kidney stones
Pelvic pain, very heavy or irregular periods
Confirming or following up on a pregnancy
A lump or swelling that appeared on the neck or under the skin
Monitoring a known condition (for example, cysts or the thyroid)

It relies on sound waves rather than the radiation X-rays use, which is why it's fine during pregnancy and can be repeated when needed. The exam takes 15 to 30 minutes and you'll only feel the cool gel and light pressure from the probe.

How do I prepare?

Abdominal: fast for 6 to 8 hours (to see the gallbladder clearly).
Pelvic and early pregnancy: come with a full bladder; drink 3 or 4 glasses of water an hour ahead and hold it.
Thyroid and soft tissue: no preparation needed.

What is the visit like?

Walk in without an appointment, check in and tell us the reason for the exam.
The ultrasound is performed in a private room, with explanations in Spanish.
The medical staff reviews the images and explains the findings in plain words.
If treatment is needed, we send your prescription that same day to the pharmacy you choose; if additional tests or a specialist referral are needed, we explain the next step.
