Wound Care

Cleaning, wound care and dressing changes for proper healing, in Spanish.

  • Cleaning and disinfection
  • Dressing changes
  • Healing follow-up
  • Care in Spanish

Good wound care prevents infection and helps the wound heal faster with a better scar. At Clínica Hispana Nueva Salud we clean, dress and bandage your wounds and follow up until they heal: no appointment, no insurance required and in Spanish.

What's included?

  • Cleaning and disinfection of the wound with sterile technique
  • Removal of damaged tissue when needed for healing
  • Dressings and bandages suited to the type of wound
  • Regular bandage changes at the clinic
  • Monitoring for signs of infection at every visit
  • Home-care instructions, in Spanish
  • Tetanus booster if your wound requires it; we offer vaccines

What kinds of wounds do we treat?

  • Post-surgical wounds that need dressing changes
  • Cuts, scrapes and lacerations (if they need closing, we do stitches)
  • Minor burns (first-degree and superficial second-degree)
  • Foot or leg ulcers, common in people with diabetes or poor circulation
  • Wounds that haven't closed after days or reopened
  • Drained abscesses that need follow-up (abscess drainage)

Signs a wound is getting infected

  • Redness spreading around the wound
  • Warmth, swelling or pain that increases instead of decreasing
  • Pus or foul-smelling fluid
  • Fever or chills
  • Red streaks moving away from the wound

If you notice any of these signs, come in the same day: an infection treated early resolves with wound care and medication; if it progresses, it can get complicated.

Patients with diabetes: special care

With diabetes, foot wounds can heal slowly and go unnoticed. Check your feet daily and, for any blister, crack or sore, come in for wound care. Regular follow-up prevents major complications.

What is the visit like?

  1. Walk in without an appointment and check in at the front desk.
  2. The medical staff evaluates the wound and decides the type of care.
  3. It's cleaned, treated and covered with the right dressing.
  4. We explain how to care for it at home and how often to return for bandage changes.
  5. We follow up until it's completely closed.
